A self-confessed ‘nerd’ has shown off his epic body transformation – and revealed the simple approach that allowed him to attain his dream physique after years of hating the gym.

Jordan Nguyen, 25, from Louisiana, said he had always been your ‘typical Asian nerd’ at school, and prioritised learning the piano and getting straight As over working out.

Then, Jordan went to university and piled on 31 kilograms while eating lots of fast food, before he later discovered the gym and started counting macros to slim down.

Today, the 25-year-old boasts a ripped physique many Hollywood movie stars would be proud of.

Jordan said his insecurities around his body started during high school, when he ‘spent almost every lunch break playing piano by myself in a music room because I didn’t want to go to the cafeteria and sit alone’.

A naturally skinny boy, the 25-year-old said he spent his weekends ‘watching anime, especially Naruto because I could relate to him always being alone outside when everyone else was playing’.

‘Of course, my parents didn’t care about me being myself; they were worried about me getting straight As,’ Jordan told FEMAIL.

‘The first time I went to the gym was in ninth grade, when I struggle to bench 25lb plates on a machine.’

How to track macros? 

* Popularly used by people looking to shed weight or gain muscle mass, counting macronutrients (macros) can help you reach various health goals.

* It entails keeping track of the calories and types of foods you eat in order to achieve certain macronutrient and calorie goals.

* Macronutrients are made up of carbohydrates, protein and fats.

* Typical macronutrient recommendations are carbs: 45–65% of total calories, fats: 20–35% of total calories and proteins: 0–35% of total calories.

‘I didn’t have any knowledge of nutrition,’ Jordan said. 

‘I would eat so much junk food and fast food.

‘I started going to the gym, but without a good diet, you just get fat.’

Eventually, he decided to take matters into his own hands and gain some knowledge of nutrition. 

‘I learned how to count calories and track my macros,’ Jordan said.

He said that he’s learned that ‘as long as you track your calorific intake and macros, you can attain the physique you want’.

‘I’m finally happy with myself,’ Jordan said. 

‘I’ve met a beautiful supportive girlfriend and I’ve walked up to old classmates who bullied me in the past and they don’t even recognise me.

‘I feel like changing my physique has allowed me to tackle deeper issues like my troubled past and it allows me to inspire others to never give up.’
