Get lit: Practice in a well-lit, well-ventilated room. Our experts recommend receiving the rays of the morning sun, so try to find a room with lots of windows and natural light.

Stay grounded: Rather, don’t. A popular misconception is that it is best to practice yoga directly on the ground – this can be bad for your posture, especially on a cement or mortar floor. Use an exercise mat, carpet or blanket instead.

Consistency is key: Practice it at the same time, every day. Try and integrate it into your daily routine. Do this long enough, and it will become a habit.

Riding solo: It is recommended to practice yoga alone, devoid of distractions, in order to enhance the focus. Yogis are encouraged to focus on their breath, and let thoughts pass in and out of the mind, without paying attention to any specific one.

Nature’s calls: If you need to cough, sneeze, urinate, defecate, or have a particularly troublesome itch, take care of it. Suppressing impulses can be distracting and unhealthy.
