World Mental Health Day is observed every year on October 10, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues and mobilizing efforts in support of better mental health. Here are 5 ways to keep your mind healthy and happy at the workplace.
Take a Walk
Go get some fresh air and go for a walk! According to the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, people who took walks in the middle of the workday had decreased levels of stress and fatigue at the end of the day. Another bonus: They were also able to concentrate better than on days when they took regular lunch breaks because walking allows the brain to recover from cognitive overload.
Eat Lunch Away from your Desk
Take your lunch break away from your desk and away from your email. Try reading a book or socializing with colleagues. By changing up the scenery, you can help boost your energy levels and de-stress.

Exercise on Your Break
Getting a workout in over your lunch break is a great way to relieve anxiety. According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise has specific mental health benefits too. It helps the production of endorphins and helps you feel less stress.
Meditation is becoming more popular in the business world to help employees destress. Many people who meditate regularly say that it restores their energy and helps them to focus on tasks that require concentration. Try downloading an app on your phone. If meditation isn’t for you, try finding a quiet place to do some breathing exercises to slow your heart rate and ease anxiety.
Whenever possible, take a break outside in nature. Find a nearby park or plan a meeting at the nearest green space. A more relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful scenery may help decrease stress.
