The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 598 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday, Nov.13, increasing the cumulative total in the county to 64,058 cases since tracking began.

An estimated 4,616 cases have been recorded in the last 14 days.

Two new deaths were reported by the county on Friday, raising the total number of reported deaths to 1,522.

Of the cumulative 1,522 deaths reported from the virus, 583 were skilled nursing facility residents, 121 were in assisted living facilities and five were listed as homeless.

The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:

85 and older: 32% (495)75-84: 22% (330, +1)65-74: 20% (301)55-64: 14% (211, +1)45-54: 8% (118)35-44: 3% (40)25-34: 1.3% (21)18-24: <.3% (5)17 and younger: 0% (1)

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process, officials say.

It is estimated about 88% of the cumulative reported cases, or 56,018 people as of Friday, have recovered. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.

The county update reported 1,229,563 tests have been given for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 10,935 tests reported in the last 24 hours.

The county also reported 244 patients in hospitals with the coronavirus on Friday, seven fewer than the previous day’s report. The highest number of hospitalizations in Orange County was 722 on July 14. There were 95 patients listed in ICUs.

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
