The Oregon Health Authority on Thursday reported 1,152 new confirmed or presumptive coronavirus cases and 29 additional deaths.

Thursday’s figures broke a streak of two days where the state reported more than 40 deaths.

At least 1,737 Oregonians have died with COVID-19 so far during the pandemic, with nearly one-third of fatalities in December alone. State officials did not immediately provide details of the deaths reported Thursday.

Meanwhile, 10,172 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were administered Wednesday. Another 6,183 vaccine doses were used in previous days but not entered into the state’s system until now

The state said in a statement that it hit Gov. Kate Brown’s goal of administering 12,000 doses in a single day last week but health leaders want to “sustain and expand our daily totals.”

As The Oregonian/OregonLive reported Thursday, several large Portland hospitals are sitting on sizable vaccine stockpiles and the state’s tracking system is riddled with errors.

Where the new cases are by county: Baker (7), Benton (23), Clackamas (70), Clatsop (11), Columbia (15), Coos (11), Crook (12), Curry (1), Deschutes (82), Douglas (16), Harney (6), Hood River (9), Jackson (75), Jefferson (12), Josephine (18), Klamath (17), Lake (3), Lane (94), Lincoln (2), Linn (23), Malheur (14), Marion (137), Morrow (9), Multnomah (185), Polk (13), Umatilla (60), Union (19), Wasco (14), Washington (162), Wheeler (2) and Yamhill (30).

The prevalence of infections: On Thursday, the state reported 1,283 new positive tests out of 21,108 tests performed, equaling a 6.1% positivity rate.

Who got infected: New confirmed or presumed infections grew among the following age groups: 0-9 (65); 10-19 (162); 20-29 (202); 30-39 (194); 40-49 (170); 50-59 (160); 60-69 (95); 70-79 (53); 80 and older (34).

Who’s in the hospital: The state reported 415 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were currently in the hospital Thursday, 19 fewer than Wednesday. Of those, 101 coronavirus patients were in intensive care units, 2 fewer than Wednesday.

Vaccines administered: Oregon has administered 146,137 doses of COVID-19 vaccines out of 321,425 doses delivered to the state, a roughly 45% use rate.
