In honor of National Nutrition Month, News 25 reached out to ‘Let’s Go! Gulf Coast,’ an organization striving to educate local communities on how to achieve optimal health.
For tips on improving your nutrition they encourage setting everyday goals. As part of their 5210 message, they encourage eating at least five servings of fruits and veggies a day.
‘Let’s Go! Gulf Coast” has been assisting community partners in health education for almost seven years. Director Kelsey Keel said, “Going out to some of the same communities and getting to speak to community members and hearing how they adapted the 5210 into their daily life. How they’ve lost weight and noticed changes in their energy, drinking more water, and eating more fruits and veggies. Hearing some of those stories has really been the most impactful to us and has been our driving force.”
Another nutrition tip is to consume zero sugary drinks and drink water instead. One way to make water less boring is to infuse it with foods like strawberries or cucumbers.
